Ramadan 2027 UAE dates are predictions, not an official announcement: the month is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027 and to last 29 or 30 days. Private-sector working hours fall by two hours a day under the UAE rule, but we found no 2027 notice yet.
On 23 October 2026 we read the UAE government’s Ramadan page, updated on 28 September 2026, and Gulf News’ 2027 forecast, updated on 16 October. We also read The National’s piece and worked out the fasting-day lengths ourselves. This is general information, not an official notice.
Ramadan 2027 UAE: expected start and end
Monday 8 February 2027 is the projected first day of Ramadan, and the month runs 29 or 30 days depending on the crescent. Final confirmation comes from the UAE moon-sighting committee, so every date below can move by a day.
| Event | Expected date | What decides it |
|---|---|---|
| First day of Ramadan | Monday 8 February 2027 | Crescent sighting before the month starts |
| 29th day of Ramadan | Monday 8 March 2027 | The committee looks for the Shawwal crescent that evening |
| Eid Al Fitr, 29-day month | Tuesday 9 to Thursday 11 March 2027 | Crescent seen on 8 March |
| Eid Al Fitr, 30-day month | Wednesday 10 to Friday 12 March 2027 | Crescent not seen, so Ramadan completes 30 days |
According to the government portal, the UAE follows an announcement from the moon-sighting committee under the UAE Council for Fatwa. Ramadan arrives 11 days earlier each Gregorian year, because the Islamic year has 354 days.
Eid Al Fitr after Ramadan 2027
Eid Al Fitr is expected on Tuesday 9 March if Ramadan has 29 days, or on Wednesday 10 March if it has 30. A 30-day month adds a public holiday on the 30th day.
That extra day is why the break can stretch. In the 30-day case the holiday would run from Tuesday 9 to Friday 12 March, and with the weekend Gulf News and The National both describe a six-day break to Sunday 14 March, subject to official confirmation.
Our UAE public holidays guide lists the other six official holidays and the rules for moving them.
Working hours during Ramadan
Working hours in the private sector are cut by two hours a day during Ramadan. The government portal says this applies to Muslim and non-Muslim employees alike, without deducting regular wages.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced the cut for 2026 on 12 February 2026, in a release carried by Sharjah24. Citing the Implementing Regulations of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, the release said private firms may use flexible or remote working within the reduced hours.
We found no equivalent notice for 2027. Last year’s came out in February, so look for the 2027 one closer to the start of the month. Until then, check your employer’s circular.
How long the fasting day will be
The fast from dawn to sunset is about 12.5 hours on the first day and about 13 hours by the last, by our calculation. Neither the government portal nor the three news pieces we read gave a figure.
| Date | City | Fajr | Maghrib | Fajr to Maghrib |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 February 2027 | Dubai | 05:40 | 18:11 | 12 h 31 min |
| 8 February 2027 | Abu Dhabi | 05:43 | 18:16 | 12 h 33 min |
| 8 March 2027 | Dubai | 05:19 | 18:27 | 13 h 08 min |
| 8 March 2027 | Abu Dhabi | 05:23 | 18:31 | 13 h 08 min |
Aladhan’s prayer-times service supplied the times, using its experimental Dubai method, and we pulled them on 23 October 2026. Its calendar marks 8 February as day one and 8 March as day 29. Treat them as calculated figures. Official timetables can differ by a few minutes.
What changes in daily life
Residents will notice a handful of practical changes, all listed on the government portal. Most concern opening hours, parking and evening travel.
- Paid parking hours change (our Dubai parking guide has the usual timings), and the timings and fees are shown on the parking meters.
- Supermarkets open as usual and malls stay open late.
- Some restaurants adjust their hours or close in the daytime, then open fully at iftar.
- Taxis can be hard to find in the evening, so the portal advises booking ahead; our Dubai taxi fare guide covers Dubai taxi fares.
- The Ministry of Economy and Tourism caps the price of essential goods for the month.
- Individuals may not run fund-raising; it must go through a licensed charity.
Where the sources differ
Dates match across the sources; the author of the forecast does not. These details matter if you plan leave around Eid.
- Source of the forecast: Gulf News names Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society, who told Al Khaleej newspaper the month would last 29 or 30 days. The National credits the UAE’s Astronomy Centre and names no one.
- End of Ramadan: Time Out Dubai says around Monday 8 March, while The National says 8 or 9 March. Both fit once you separate the 29-day and 30-day months.
- Eid start: The National says the break is likely to start on 10 March in a 30-day month, yet also that holidays begin on 9 March. The 9 March day is the extra Ramadan holiday.
What we could not confirm
Several points stay open, because no 2027 announcement exists yet, one official page would not load for us, and some rules are not spelled out in the sources we read.
- A 2027 notice on private-sector working hours.
- Federal government hours for Ramadan 2027.
- Whether work beyond the reduced hours is paid as overtime, and at what rate.
- The official 2027 fasting and prayer timetable.
- The Ministry’s own page for the 2026 notice, which we read through a news agency copy.
