Oman Visa for UAE Residents: What the Official Site Says

8 Min Read

For an Oman visa for UAE residents, the Royal Oman Police eVisa site lists a GCC Resident Visa for tourism. It allows a single entry and a four-week stay, extendable by one week. It needs no sponsor, but only for professions that the authority specifies.

On 17 October 2026 we read the visa types page and the FAQ page of that site. We did not log in or apply. The pages we read do not give the approved professions, a fee, or an on-arrival option for GCC residents, so those points come from rival guides and stay unconfirmed. This is general information, not immigration advice.

Oman visa for UAE residents: the GCC resident route

On the visa types page, type 29 is the GCC Resident Visa. It is granted to foreign residents of GCC countries who want to visit for tourism, provided they hold professions specified by the authority, and it does not require a sponsor.

The FAQ names 29A for the main traveller with an approved profession and 29B for a companion. It lists the tourist visa for GCC residents as one of four types on the eVisa system, beside unsponsored, sponsored and express visas.

Two practical lines sit in the same FAQ. A passport should have at least six months of validity before entry, and the FAQ recommends lodging the application at least four days in advance. Payment does not guarantee approval, it adds. Our visa status guide covers checking the UAE residence side first.

If your job is not on the list

The official pages we read do not print the approved profession list, so we cannot say which jobs qualify. We would not guess from a guide’s summary.

Gulf News, in a piece updated on 31 July 2026, says the occupation printed on the Emirates ID decides eligibility. It adds that a resident whose job is not listed must use a different visit visa, through a travel agent, an embassy or a family member living in Oman. Property Finder names medical, engineering, education and business or finance roles as examples. Neither is an official list.

The FAQ confirms that a sponsored tourist visa exists. It does not say that GCC residents can use it, and the Dubai and Oman joint visa it describes is for people with no GCC residency.

Where rival guides disagree

The guides near the top of this search differ from one another, and from the official pages, on points that change the cost and the length of the trip.

  • Fee and length: Gulf News gives OMR 5 for 28 days. oravisa.com gives OMR 5 for 10 days or OMR 20 for 30 days. Property Finder gives about USD 58 for a 10-day type 29A and USD 88 for 30 days. The official type 29 entry names no fee and a four-week stay.
  • Visa on arrival: Gulf News says 28 days, Property Finder says about 14 days, and Gryffin Capitalist says 30 days, extendable by 30. The FAQ we read says a tourist travelling by road should apply on the website first.
  • Speed: the FAQ advises four days in advance. oravisa.com says approval comes within one working day, and Property Finder says 24 to 72 hours.
  • Emirates ID: Gulf News lists it among the documents, while oravisa.com calls it recommended but not always mandatory. The FAQ page does not list documents.

Treat the Royal Oman Police pages as the baseline. Every other figure here is a claim to test before you pay.

What we could not confirm

Several points stay open after our reading, because the pages we could open do not state them and we applied for nothing.

  • The approved profession list, and where it is published.
  • The fee for the GCC Resident Visa and how it varies by length.
  • Whether GCC residents can get a visa on arrival, and for how many days.
  • How the one-week extension is requested.
  • Real processing times.
  • Whether a resident with an unlisted job can use the sponsored tourist visa.
