Abu Dhabi Taxi: Fares, Booking Number, App and Airport Rates

7 Min Read

An Abu Dhabi taxi starts at AED 5 by day and AED 5.50 at night, then adds AED 1.82 a kilometre, with a minimum trip fare of AED 12, according to the Abu Dhabi Mobility fare table. Booked rides add AED 4 by day and AED 5 at night, and airport taxis start at AED 20.

We read the Abu Dhabi Mobility taxi pages on fares, vehicle types and booking on 31 October 2026. The pages carry no date, so the figures are those shown that day. Uber, Careem and other apps set their own prices outside this table.

Abu Dhabi taxi fares at a glance

The Abu Dhabi Mobility fare page lists silver taxis and airport taxis separately. Daytime runs from 6am to 10pm and night from 10pm to 6am. All figures are in dirhams.

Taxi and time Flagfall Per km Waiting, per minute Minimum trip Booking fee
Silver taxi, day 5.00 1.82 0.50 12 4.00
Silver taxi, night 5.50 1.82 0.50 12 5.00
Airport taxi, day 20.00 1.82 0.50 not listed 4.00
Airport taxi, night 20.00 1.82 0.50 not listed 5.00

The page lists the Vito airport taxi with the same figures, using the label “flagfall from airport”. Payment is by cash, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or the PayBy app, or by card online through the official app.

The table does not say when the booking fee applies. We read it as a charge on booked rides rather than street hails, so check with the driver or the app.

What a trip adds up to

Our sums use only the listed rates. They are not metered fares, they leave out waiting time, and they assume the meter runs on distance alone. Traffic will push a real fare higher.

  • 10 km by day: AED 5.00 plus 10 x AED 1.82 comes to AED 23.20
  • 10 km at night: AED 5.50 plus AED 18.20 comes to AED 23.70
  • 10 km by day, booked by app or phone: AED 23.20 plus AED 4.00 comes to AED 27.20
  • 20 km airport taxi by day: AED 20.00 plus 20 x AED 1.82 comes to AED 56.40

A very short hop is charged AED 12 under the minimum trip fare. For the airport run, Visit Abu Dhabi puts the journey into town at about AED 70 to 80 including the flag fall. Its page carries no date.

Booking an Abu Dhabi taxi: number and app

The official Abu Dhabi Mobility taxi page gives the call centre as 600 53 53 53 within the UAE and +971 2 4186000 from abroad. The Abu Dhabi Taxi app is listed for Huawei AppGallery, Google Play and the App Store.

Street taxis can also be flagged down. Visit Abu Dhabi describes them as silver with a yellow roof sign, and advises asking for a receipt so the call centre can trace anything left behind. We found no taxi complaints process on the Abu Dhabi Mobility pages we read.

Taxi types and roof lights

Abu Dhabi Mobility lists three kinds of public taxi.

  • Public taxi: yellow roof light
  • Family taxi: white roof light, for families only, with a woman driver
  • Taxi for people of determination: yellow roof, built to high safety standards

Visit Abu Dhabi says family taxis come in four-seater and seven-seater versions for women and for travellers with children under ten. It recommends booking family and accessible taxis in advance.

Apps besides the official one

Visit Abu Dhabi also lists Uber and Careem, both paid by card. The Abu Dhabi Mobility pages we read name only the official app.

In a May 2025 r/abudhabi thread, a three-year resident said drivers booked through the official app had a few times never shown up, and asked for a more reliable app. The top-voted reply was a single word.

That is one thread and a few replies, not a survey. A June 2026 thread from a newcomer got mixed answers, with one commenter saying Careem works here and another saying taxis cannot be booked through it. Check the app you plan to use, and compare its quote with the table above.
