The system was inaugurated on 27 November 2024 and opened to passengers in stages from 1 December, which is why the lines carry different opening dates. Riyadh Metro timings
Riyadh Metro runs from 05:30 to midnight Saturday through Thursday, and from 10:00 to midnight on Fridays, according to Riyadh Public Transport, the operator. Buses start earlier, at 05:00, seven days a week. Trains come every three to five minutes at peak and every five to ten off-peak. Older guides still list a 06:00 start and an 08:00 Friday opening, so when sources disagree the operator’s own page is the one to trust.
Getting to King Khalid International Airport
Line 4, the yellow line, is the airport line. It runs along King Khalid International Airport Road and ends at three airport stations, split by terminal: Airport T5, Airport T3-4 and Airport T1-2. Nine kilometres of its route is shared with the purple Line 6. For arrivals, that means checking which terminal you land at before picking the station, because the three airport stops are not interchangeable at platform level.
