How these calculators are built

Each calculator starts from a published rule: the UAE labour law, a government portal page, or a fare table from the Roads and Transport Authority. We write the formula down, test it against hand-worked examples, and print the same examples on the page so you can check the arithmetic.

  1. We read the official source and record the date we read it.
  2. We write the formula and list every assumption the law does not spell out.
  3. We test it on worked examples that include edge cases.
  4. We publish the sums and a list of what we could not confirm.
  5. We re-check the figures when fares, rules or dates change.

Gulf calculator questions

Are the results official?

No. They are estimates from published rules. A ministry, an employer or a meter can give a different figure, and the pages say where.

Do you store what I enter?

No. Each calculator runs in your browser and sends nothing to a server.

Which countries do the calculators cover?

The labour calculators follow UAE federal law. The taxi, metro and Salik tools cover Dubai.

How current are the fares and rules?

Each page states the date we read its sources. We update them when an official source changes.

Can I rely on them as legal advice?

No. They are general information. For a dispute, use the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation channels covered in our MOHRE complaint guide.

About the figures

The labour calculators use the English text of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 and the u.ae portal. The Dubai tools use pages from the Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Taxi Company and the Dubai government portal, summarised in our guides. We could not read the Implementing Regulation or Salik’s own site, and each page lists its own gaps.
